I arrived into Hunter College's auditorium to a mixture of vibrant youth ranging from elementary to high school aged children and eager parents. I admire the dedication this companies puts forth for each generation of children especially Black children. The companies/event I speak of is the: UNCF(United Negro College Fund) and HBCU(Historical Black Colleges&Universities), these two companies partnered up together for the Empower Me Tour ( whose last stop was in good ole New York City, at CUNY's own Hunter College.

The beginning remarks come from Wells Fargo Director of National Partnership GiGi Dixon. Dixon speaks on giving back to the community and making difference's in your communities. Other speaker's were: Fred Mitchell(Northern Regional Development Director UNCF), Taryn Hunter (Asst. Director of Recruitment&Outreach Hunter College), Dennis M. Walcott(Chancellor,NYC Dep. of Education) whom produced a video presentation on behalf of absence from event. The speaker to end the morning session panel was actress, host Tatyana Ali(Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Love that Girl). The crowd awakened to the exciting vibe Tatyana Ali brought to the stage. We were indulged with laughter from the playful and wise Michael J. Sorrell (President,Paul Quinn College)and graced with live performance from Howard University Alumni Steppers. Many workshops were held such as: "Have you decided on Career?", S.A.T's,Financial Aide and many other issues concerning College&High School. Two Big Panels were "Girl Talk:Defining Your Pretty" and Ties vs. Timbs: Where do you fit in Brother?"... Both panel discussions were divided amongst the boys and girls. I(Candace) attended the girl talk panel which was introduced by Jive Label VP of Marketing, Lisa Cambridge-Mitchell, who started the procession for this panel of a superb group of college educated ladies in the industry: Tatyana Ali(Actress,Host), Kim Coles(Actress&Comedian),Monique Johnson&Kita Williams(exective producers TO show),Ledisi(Grammy nominated vocalist)and Phyllis Cunningham Moderator. Below is the brief look at the panel discussion...(BIG SHOUTOUT TO CANDICE COX OF
